Exeter show update…

The RS Tower layout will be appearing at the Exe MRS’s Exeter model railway exhibition in 2011 along with fourteen Freemo modules, most of which have either never been seen in public before or have been altered or upgraded since the last time they have been shown. The RS Tower layout along with the modules [...]

New Years Day operating session & open house

The RS Tower team will be holding an open house & operating session on the 1st January 2010 in the basement of The Salvation Army hall, Friars Gate, Exeter, EX2 4AZ between 10am and 4.30pm. The entrance to the venue is in Lucky Lane. There is some nearby street parking available (in meter bays) but [...]

Progress, Show Reminders & Videos…

Yes, another one of my horribly infrequent updates! The layout is up and running again – here’s a bit of proof… That has allowed us to do a few bits more on scenery, the kinds of things that are hard to finish off when the layout is in 4′ chunks but are a relative breeze when [...]

Car cards and waybills

A while back in a thread on operation on RM-Web the use of car cards and waybills came up, and that kicked off a thought process about how best to use them on an exhibition layout. Talking to the guys in the group and whilst some of us were okay moving given cars to an [...]

Happy Christmas to you all!

I figured that I’d better do a pre-Christmas update, as i’ve yet again been patently rubbish at writing these! So – here we go:

Just two weeks to Andover

We had a final work session this weekend in preparation for the Andover Show – click here for show details – i’ve uploaded a few photo’s from this weekend to the layout’s fotopic site to hopefully whet your appetites as well – hope to see some of you there.   Neil Rogers also has some photo’s on [...]

One week’s notice…

Well, here we are again with one week to go before our second appearance at the Exe MRS show in Exeter – last year we were appearing as a very much “work in progress” – this time hopefully the look will be much more complete with at least basic scenery right across the scenic section. [...]

Don’t forget!

Our open house on Thursday – details in the previous post. Some images from our work day are now online here: http://modelrailpics.fotopic.net/c735837.html

Housekeeping…

Just a quick note to let you all know that a few pages have been updated – the Module Specifications page now has full details including a couple of diagrams, and photo’s and further info have been added to the pages for Neil Rogers’ Dale Yard and Oakdale modules.

Blimey! The darn thing works!

Well, it was getting dark in our corner of the hall as we were finishing off setting up, but just to prove that (a) the darn thing works and (b) long trains work here’s a quick vid I made just before going home. Power is an SD26 (Atlas), SD24 (Atlas) and SD45-2 (Genesis) lashup with a loooong train [...]
